Time needed: 1-2 minutes

How: Standing, sitting or lying on the back. Put your hands on your own head and use your thumbs to find the depressions at the bottom of your skull, about 6cm (2 inches) out of the middle of your throat. The points are just to the outside the large muscles running down along sideof your neck. Press your thumbs inside and slightly upward toward your eyes. Press till you feel no greater than a comfortable pain, then hold the pressure as you knead the points in really small circular movements for 1-2 min’s.

Tips: Close your eyes and concentrate on the points as you press them; if the points are extremely tender ease off the pressure a lttle bit.

2. Hand acupressure point (Co4):

Note: Not to be hard pressed during pregnancy (especially in the last trimester) as it could stimulate uterine contractions.

Time needed: 2-3 minutes

Benefits: A major acupressure point to relieve general head as well as face pain, e. g. headache, toothache, sinus pain.

How: The point is positioned on both hands, about 3-4cm (1. 5 inches) in on the edge of the webbing between your thumbs and index fingertips. Put your left thumb around the right hand point and with your left index finger around the other (palm) side of the webbing to produce a pinching technique. Squeeze and massage the point in very small round movements for 1-2 min’s. Repeat on the other hand.

Tips: Press and knead these points anytime you have discomfort on your head or face; close your eyes and concentrate on the points as you press them.
